From Outsourcing to Entrepreneurship
Suhas Sinlkar, Founder of R Engineering, has been a part of the engineering and fabrication industry for over 20 years. His journey into entrepreneurship began after 14 years of professional experience, culminating in the establishment of his own company in 2017.
Starting a business from scratch comes with its own set of challenges. Suhas recalls the early days:
“When I first started, banks and financial institutions were hesitant to provide loans because a strong balance sheet is required. To overcome this, I began an outsourcing business, taking orders from clients and delivering them successfully. This helped me gain experience, confidence, and resources to start my own company.”
In 2017, he officially founded R Engineering, focusing on sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, CNC press brake bending, and welding.
Partnering with Laser Technology
From the very beginning, Laser Technology has played a crucial role in Suhas’ journey. He booked his first machine with them in 2017, even while still employed elsewhere. The company provided hands-on support, which proved invaluable during the initial stages.
“Our first machine was a 2 kW laser, and it marked the beginning of our growth. Within a year, we added a second machine, and over time, we have acquired 7–8 machines. Today, our setup includes laser cutting, CNC press brake bending, and welding machines, allowing us to handle complex projects efficiently.”
Expanding Production and Team
As the business grew, so did the team. Suhas started alone, but today 10–15 skilled employees support operations. The company handles a variety of projects, including:
- Product control panels
- Automation parts
- Back filters and other sheet metal components
All products are developed in-house, from laser cutting and bending to full fabrication and powder coating, ensuring consistent quality and timely delivery.
